A gluten-free diet doesn’t have to be boring!

A gluten-free diet is recommended for those with diseases such as IBS and Celiac. Gluten is found in many food items including bread, some dairy, and cakes and cookies. Many find that adopting a gluten-free diet is difficult due to it being included in most food. In the article “Gluten-Free Pastry Chef“, chef Michael Madriaga describes how his girlfriend’s Celiac disease inspired him to replicate many common foods into gluten-free alternatives, without sacrificing taste.

“The surprising thing is that they look good and taste delicious, too,” said customer Richard Eckert. Eckert, of Miramar Beach, visited the Pie in the Sky stand looking for help with a healthy diet. How this is accomplished without traditional ingredients such as sugar and wheat flour is by the substitution of turbinado sugar, rice flour and other alternative raw ingredients. Madriaga says they are not hard to obtain, either.

Those who are required to have a gluten-free diet can find products at health stores around the country.
